New Delhi: Delhi Police arrested two ‘hi-tech thieves' allegedly involved in theft of laptops, cell phones and other IT related gadgets.

Rajat and Mahesh, who wanted to make quick money, had become pros at stealing laptops, mobile phones.

Selling the stolen electronic items in the black market didn't fetch them good money. And any attempt to return the gadgets to showrooms for refund was risky without proof of purchase.

One day they hit upon a bright idea. For selling the stolen goods, they started using classified portal - OLX - which allows strangers to exchange goods and money without even meeting each other.

This must have made some gullible buyers using OLX vulnerable to being a part of the trade in stolen goods.

The incident came to light when the duo stole an iPhone from Kaushal, resident of Patiala, and posted it for sale on OLX.

Incidentally, Kaushal visited the online shopping site the same day to purchase another phone and quickly recognized his phone after going through its details.

He immediately informed the Delhi police after which the duo was taken into custody.
