AIADMK has struggled to find a popular face after the death of former Tamil Nadu CM and party chief J Jayalalithaa. AIADMK MLA V V Rajan Chellappa on Saturday strongly pitched for a single "charismatic" leadership to steer the party.
The party also claimed that "misinformation" was being spread about the Centre trying to "impose a three-language formula" in the country, a reference to the state opposition parties' stand against the imposition of Hindi.
As per the trends available from the counting centres, the DMK was leading in 21 places, the Congress in 8, CPI-M and CPI and VCK in two each and IUML in one seat.
