GT vs CSK Highlights IPL 2022: David Miller powers Gujarat Titans to 3 wickets win over Chennai Super Kings

David Miller finished the game for Gujarat Titans with an extraordinary knock of 94 runs in just 51 balls. With 13 runs needed from the last over Miller smashed a six and a boundary against Chris Jordan. With this win GT consolidated their position at the top while CSK remain at number nine in the points table. 

Double strike by Bravo

Two wickets in Bravo's over have tilted the game in CSK's favour. First, he removes the dangerous Rashid Khan for 40 then dismissed Alzarri Joseph on the very next ball. GT need 13 runs from last over with Miller on strike. 

Bravo comes into the attack & OUT! Now Tewatia bites the dust. Tried to hit it straight down the ground, but couldn't get the desired distance, and Jadeja takes a sitter. 

GT 87/4 after 12 overs: Big over for GT as Miller takes on Jadeja, 2 sixes followed by a boundary.

GT 68/4 after 11 overs: Moeen Ali comes into the attack, and Miller hits him for a sic towards long-off. Much needed hit for the Titans. Good over for GT. 10 off it.

OUT! Jadeja comes into the attack & gets rid of Saha. Looks to up the ante, but finds Gaikwad at deep square leg. GT are 49/4 after 8 overs. 

GT are 36/3 after the powerplay. Big task at hand for Miller and Saha. With Tewatia the only recognised batsmen to come, these two will have to bat out of their skin if GT is to even get close to 170. 

GT 16/3 after 4 overs: OUT! Theekshana gets rid of Manohar. Tries to loft it over extra cover, but finds the fielder. GT already staring at a defeat. Miller is the new batter. 

GT 14/2 after 3 overs: Manohar is the new batter, and he is looking to counterattack. A drive to cover for a boundary. Now he cuts the balls over backward point for another four. Positive start for Manohar. But he needs to be careful not to get too excited here. 

GT 5/2 after 2 overs: Theekshana comes into the attack and sends Vijay Shankar packing. Edged and gone. Dhoni doesn't drop those. Shankar's horror season continues. Gujarat are 2 down in no time. 

GT 1/1 after 1 over: Mukesh Choudhary to start the attack for CSK. OUT! Gill is out in the first over itself, and the Titans dug-out won't be happy. Big wicket for CSK. 

CSK post 169/5 in 20 overs

Ruturaj Gaikwad's 73 run knock, followed by 46 runs innings by Ambati Rayudu helped CSK post 169 runs in 20 overs against Gujarat Titans. Small cameos from Shivam Dube and captain Ravindra Jadeja helped Chennai post the challenging total. For Gujarat, Alzarri Joseph took two wickets while Yash Dayal and M Shami chipped in with one wicket each. 

CSK 131/4 in 16.2 overs OUT! Ruturaj Gaikwad hits low full toss straight to the fielder at deep backward square. The connection was there but could not get the elevation. Both set CSK batters are back in dugout and now Dube and Jadeja need to finish the innings on high. 

CSK 124/3 in 14.3 overs OUT! Ambati Rayudu falls four runs short of a well deserved fifty as Alzarri Joseph gets his second wicket of the match. Rayudu, who was trying to hit a six on every ball, went for a big hit and smashed the ball over point. Vijay Shankar took an easy catch at the deep point. Shivam Dube has joined Gaikwad in the middle. 

Ruturaj Gaikwad hits fifty!

Chennai Super Kings opening batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad, who was searching for runs since the beginning of IPL 2022, has finally found form as he smashed fifty against GT. Gaikwad completed his fifty in just 37 balls with the help of four boundaries and three maximums. He took his side out of trouble as they lose two wickets in the powerplay. 

CSK 32/2 in 5.2 overs OUT! Clean Bowled! Alzarri Joseph gets his first wicket for his new franchise as he removes Moeen Ali for one. Wide length ball outside off, Ali went for the big drive and inside-edged it back onto the stumps. All eyes are on Ruturaj Gaikwad!

CSK 7/1 in 2.2 overs OUT! M Shami provides the breakthrough as Robin Uthappa gets trapped in front of the wicket. Spot on review by Shami and Rashid Khan. The right-hand batsman wanted to play the ball across and hit it towards the cow-corner. Shami beats him in the pace and hits the back pad right in front of the wicket. 

Here we go then! Robin Uthappa and Ruturaj Gaikwad are out in the middle for CSK while GT will start with M Shami. 

Toss Report

Gujarat Titans won the toss and opted to field first against Chennai Super Kings in match number 29 in IPL 2022 here at the Maharastra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune on Sunday. 

Team News 

Rashid Khan is captaining the side in absence of injured Hardik Pandya while Wriddhiman Saha makes his way in Gujarat playing 11. One more change in GT 11 as Matthew Wade misses out and Alzarri Joseph comes in. No changes in CSK's playing XI.

Ravindra Jadeja: We would have bowled first as well. Now we will look to put a good score on the board and put pressure on them. After the last game we had a day off and back to basics with the training and stuff. Same team for us.

Rashid Khan: We would like to bowl first. Bit of stiffness in the groin area for Hardik, so as a team we didn't want to take a chance. He will rest and hopefully be back for the next game. Super excited, it's kind of a dream. So I just want to learn as much as I can and give 100 percent. Matthew Wade is out and Saha is in. It's just to balance it out as Hardik is absent.

Gujarat played DC on this pitch a couple of weeks ago, made 171 and won the game. Teams batting first have won thrice here. It's a used surface and there's a covering of grass. There's a bit of scarring on the surface. You need to hit the surface and let it work for you. The CSK bowlers need to pitch it up and get some swing and also need to take the pace off. The Gujarat Titans bowlers can hit the deck around back of a length and extract some help from the grass on the wicket. If I were CSK I would at bat first and hope to get a big score and defend, but I were GT I am going the complete opposite way... bowl first and restrict.
