Eight of those hospitalised due to the turbulence on SpiceJet flight have been discharged so far.
Passengers sustained injuries as cabin baggage fell on many of them, leading to head injuries to several flyers.
The DGCA's move comes after a 737-800 plane operated by China airline crashed in mountains in southern China killing 132 people on board last month.

Three Indian carriers -- SpiceJet, Vistara and Air India Express -- have Boeing 737 aircraft in their fleets. When asked what steps the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is taking following Monday's crash, Kumar told PTI, "Flight safety is serious business and we are closely studying the situation. In the interim, we are focusing on enhanced surveillance of our 737 fleet."

As per Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), mandatory take-off permission is required for any aircraft from ATC before the flight takes off, whether the runway is secured or not or any other aircraft not arriving for an emergency.
Air India Airport Services Ltd's senior manager Sunil Sangole said that a SpiceJet flight heading to Mumbai from Gorakhpur with 182 passengers and crew members on board made an emergency landing at the Nagpur airport at 12.32 PM after a passenger, who was three-month pregnant, had a medical emergency.
An agreement for performance of such services for a period of 10 years was entered into between SpiceJet and SR Technics on November 24, 2011. The terms of payments were also agreed. On August 24, 2012 a supplemental agreement was also entered into to change certain terms of the agreement.
According to SpiceJet, the new feature gives a complete cardless experience to its customers as no credit or debit card details are required to avail EMIs.
