The Defence Ministry has also been briefed about the inquiry committee report and further action is expected in the next few weeks.
An Air Vice Marshal from the Air Force headquarters is carrying out a detailed investigation into the accidental firing of the tactical BrahMos supersonic cruise missile which landed in Pakistan on March 9.
"The range of the BrahMos missile has been increased already and with the advantage of being airborne at high altitudes, the missile can travel a longer distance and can hit targets at 800 kms and beyond", said sources.
The missile was equipped with new technological developments which were successfully proven.
The "copy book flight" followed pre-planned trajectory and met all objectives, the sources in DRDO said.
