xi. I was told by the Hon'ble Members of the Committee that this is a Committee under the administrative order of the Hon'ble Chief Justice and its proceedings are confidential in nature. I was not told about the ambit of the Administrative enquiry that the Committee was to find out the truth of the allegations contained in the newspaper article. I was told that the intern had made a statement with certain annexures. I politely asked the Committee to give me a copy to examine it. I was shattered to be told curtly that I will not be given a copy as it was confidential and that I must make the statement immediately. There was a compulsive tone to it. I therefore hurriedly glanced at the statement and the affidavits running into more than 60 pages.
Then I proceeded to recount strictly what happened while denying that there was any attempt on my part to act improperly. I told the Judges that the intern used to come to my home before to work with me. Although I am denied a copy of the intern's statement, I was shocked to find that the substantial portion of the contents of the statements of the intern were leaked out verbatim in a Bengali Newspaper, Ebala dated 30.11.2013. I am left to wonder of the assurance given to me by the Hon'ble members of the Committee of the confidential nature of statements and other materials of the intern. Even though her statements cast aspersions on my personal behaviour and adversely impact my reputation and honour as a former judge of the Supreme Court, I was denied a copy of the same.
