Following the deadly thunderstorms of May 2-3, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued an alert for May 8 forecasting that parts of north India, including Delhi, could be lashed by a thunderstorm and squall with winds gusting up to 50-70 kilometres an hour.
Thunderstorm, squall and heavy rains continue to wreak havoc in North India even as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the threat will continue to haunt the region for next 48 hours.

"The maximum temperature was recorded at 40.6 degrees Celsius while the minimum settled at 26.7 degrees Celsius, both normal for this time of the year," a Meteorological official said.
After a dust storm hit the national capital early on Wednesday, IMD has issued a warning for next 72 hours anticipating similar weather conditions across large parts of north India including Delhi.
