Samajwadi Party feud: Election Commission reserves order on party symbol

After over four hours of deliberation with leaders of both factions of Samajwadi Party, the election commission of India has reserved its order over the ownership of the party symbol. Earlier today Samajwadi Party's warring factions led by Mulayam Singh Yadav and his son Akhilesh Yadav reached elction commission office today to settle the dispute over control of the party and its election symbol of ‘cycle’.

Refrain from using social media for grievances: Army Chief tells jawans
Army Chief Bipin Rawat today asked jawans to restrain from using social media platforms to share their problems and raise complaints internally and directly within the forum. Addressing the media, he informed that the Army headquarters and other commands have suggestion and grievance boxes and jawans having any complaint can use those boxes to voice their ‘dissatisfaction’.

A bench of justices M B Lokur and P C Pant asked Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi about the status of a similar petition challenging the ban imposed by the National Green Tribunal.

Najeeb Jung’s successor, Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, has returned the file on the Delhi government’s proposal to slash DTC bus fares by 75 per cent. The decision to cut down the fare to Rs 5 for non-AC buses and Rs 10 for AC buses had been announced by Delhi Transport Minister Satyendra Jain in December and the file was sent to the LG for approval earlier last week. It was originally mooted by Baijal’s predecessor, Najeeb Jung.

Budget 2017: Centre may propose 'cash tax' to discourage large withdrawals
In a bid to incentivise digital transactions and discourage large withdrawals, the Narendra Modi government is considering a proposal to impose cash tax in the upcoming Union Budget. The government may tweak an earlier banking cash transaction tax under the United Progressive Alliance government, under which tax will be levied on cash withdrawals above a certain ceiling from bank accounts.

SpiceJet inks Rs 1.5 lakh crore deal for purchase of 205 Boeing jets
India's second-biggest budget carrier SpiceJet will purchase up to 205 new aircraft from Boeing with the order valued at Rs 1,50,000 crore. With the earlier order for 55 planes and additional 100 new 737-8 MAX aircraft, the no-frills carrier now has firmed up order for a total of 155 planes, besides purchase rights for 50 B737-8 MAX and wide body aircraft.
