The searches, part of a broader anti-extremism effort, yielded mobile phones and Rs 2,98,000 in cash. The operations covered premises in Badegobra village, where CPI (Maoist) influence is prevalent. The NIA took charge of the case in February 2024 after the attack injured an ITBP head constable.
The searches are being conducted in as many as 17 locations across seven states in connection with the matter. In January this year, the NIA charge-sheeted eight individuals in connection with the case.
The accused and other suspects were found to be in constant contact with their handlers based in foreign countries, with the aim of advancing the activities of a global terror network, both within India and internationally.
The chargesheeted men had conspired with the accused in the Vizhinjam Arms case for exploiting the illegal drugs trade in India and Sri Lanka for funding, amassing, and stashing weapons for the revival of LTTE in India and Sri Lanka.
