Senior Advocate Vivek Tamkha, representing the Congress Party, urged the tribunal to suspend the order for ten days, allowing the Indian National Congress (INC) to appeal to the High Court. However, the bench declined the request, stating that there was no such provision or plea before them.
Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Friday launched the e-filing portal of the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) here, saying the initiative should be seen as a larger narrative of transformation the country is undergoing through the digital medium.
The Delhi bench of the ITAT, in an order on November 15, said Young Indian's "entire move for acquiring the AJL (Associated Journals Ltd), which had stopped/suspended its publication activities and was holding large number of properties worth hundreds of crores with huge rental and lease income, was for acquiring control and interest in such properties for mere sum of Rs 50 lakh."
