Seven people were killed and three others suffered injuries in an explosion at a firecrackers' factory in Tamil Nadu's Cuddalore.
An enormous mushroom cloud went up several metres high as firecrackers, seized by police, went off while being defused on the banks of Ganga in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district on Thursday, shattering window panes of houses even on the other bank of the river -- Chinsurah in Hooghly district.
At least 13 people were injured, two of them seriously, in a blast in a firecracker manufacturing factory in lower Assam's Barpeta district on Monday, officials said.
At least six people were killed while dozens were left injured after a blast at a firecrackers factory in Uttar Pradesh's Etah on Saturday. The incident took place in Mirehachi town's Takiya locality. An illegal firecrackers factory was being run out of a house which was owned by Niresh Jatav.
Following the incident, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered the district magistrates and Superintendents of Police to inspect firecracker factories, transportation of firecrackers and their sale.
Intensity of the blast was so strong that people sitting in an adjacent cycle shop and some passers-by were injured in the incident.
