The 73-year-old politician was being treated by a team of doctors in his Mumukshu ashram where he has been held under house arrest since September 13.
"After his condition became bad, he was shifted to the medical college hospital and admitted in ward number 8," Chief Medical Superintendent Dr M P Gangwar said.

The student who levelled rape charges against BJP leader Swami Chinmayanand recorded her statement before a magistrate here on Monday. The special investigation team (SIT) probing the case took her to the court, where her statement was recorded before Judicial Magistrate Geetika Singh, official sources said here.
The father of a law student, who accused Chinmayanand of raping her, has alleged that the SIT has leaked footage from the video recording that his daughter gave them.

A woman who immolated herself on Sunday, protesting the inaction of police on her rape complaint, died on Monday at SMS Hospital, officials said. The incident ocurred at Vaishali Nagar police station, police said, adding a police team tried to douse the fire and admitted her in SMS Hospital where she succumbed on Monday, police said.
