Unhappy over the first expansion, allocation of portfolios and appointments on crucial posts, including the Advocate General, Sidhu on Tuesday resigned from his post after remaining at the helm for 71 days.
Punjab CM Charanjit SIngh Channi also emphasised that all the disconnected electricity connections will also be restored.

Addressing a presser, Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi said, "I have my confidence in Sidhu, if needed I shall call him... but there is no difference. How can he be angry with me."
