All-rounders have a special ability to contribute to both aspects of the game. There are very few all-rounders who last for a long time, especially in Tests. On that note, let us have a look at five all-rounders who have scored more than 5000 runs and picked more than 200 wickets in Tests.
Jacques Kallis of South Africa is at the top of this special list. He is arguably the best all-rounder ever to play Test cricket, having amassed 13289 runs in 166 matches at an average of 55.37 with a staggering 45 centuries to his name. Moreover, he also shone with the ball for his team, picking up 292 wickets in at an average of 32.65 with five five-wicket hauls.

Gary Sobers of the West Indies played Test cricket for 20 years from 1954 to 1974 and he did extremely well as an all-rounder. Sobers played 93 Test matches and amassed 8032 runs at an impeccable average of 57.78 with the best score of 365* and smashed 26 centuries too. He also accounted for 235 wickets at an average of 34.03 with six five-wicket hauls to his credit.

Ben Stokes of England is already in third place in this list. He is already among the best all-rounders to play Test cricket ever. Stokes has so far scored 7032 runs in 115 Test matches at an average of 35.69 with 14 tons and has also picked up 230 wickets at an average of 31.64 while also accounting for five five-wicket hauls.

Kapil Dev of India also makes it to this list in fourth place. He played Test cricket for India from 1978 to 1994, amassing 5248 runs at an average of 31.05 with eight scores of 100 or more. Moreover, he also kept the batters on the tenterhooks all the time with as many as 434 wickets in the format at an average of 29.64 with a stunning 23 five-wicket hauls.

Ian Botham of England is the next all-rounder who has made it to this special list. He played 102 Tests for his country, scoring 5200 runs at an average of 33.54 with 14 tons to his name. Botham was a brilliant bowler, picking up 383 wickets for England at an average of 28.4 with 27 five-wicket hauls.
