Military intervention in Syria will exacerbate conflict: PM
New Delhi: Warning against any external military intervention in Syria, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said it would only exacerbate the conflict and pressed the urgent need for promoting a political settlement to the issue.He
He underlined that “There is an urgent need to promote a political settlement to the conflict, addressing the legitimate aspirations of the Syrian people.”
Singh noted that India has worked with Russia on this issue when it was a member of the UN Security Council.
Talking about the issue, he said, “The use of chemical weapons, irrespective of who used them, highlights the dangers inherent in the conflict.”
