The family has requested the J&K Chief Minister and state Home Minister to intervene.

Pakistan authorities have made no arrangement to send back the body to his relatives in India.

The incident has raised serious question mark on the safety of other Indian prisoners in Pakistan jails.

Tahseem Khan himself was put behind bars after he blamed certain influential persons for the burning of churches in Nankana Sahib in 2005.

"I am going to take up the issue of beating of a minority community jail inmate at national and international level" he said.

Khan said, there was grave threat to the safety of minority prisoners including Indians specially Sarabjit Singh and Kirpal Singh, both death row convicts.

In New Delhi, External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid said: “We have asked for the post-mortem report from the Pakistan Government. We can comment on it only after going through the report. We have also received information that some human rights groups have taken up the issue and a full report is awaited on this”.
