New Delhi: This Friday's release ‘Neerja' starring Sonam Kapoor and directed by Ram Madhvani narrates the story of airhostess Neerja Bhanot who died a heroic death. On the fateful day of September 7, 1986 the flight on which she was the head purser was hijacked by four terrorists. In a bid to save the lives of 360 lives she was gunned down by those terrorists.
Produced by Fox Star Hindi and Atul Kasbekar, the film received exceptionally good reviews. A strong word of mouth lead to a higher footfall at theatres and the movie raked Rs 4.70 crores on the first day. The movie was released in 700 theatres across India to limited shows but the collections were commendable.

Sonam Kapoor has broken every norm which surrounded her with her impeccable acting in ‘Neerja'. Many critics have asserted that it is her career best performance. Shabana Azmi, who essays the role of Rama Bhanot, Neerja's mother also garnered praises for her act.
Almost every critic said that it is difficult to come dry eyed out of the theatre after ‘Neerja'. This will undoubtedly boost the movie's collections this week and the one after that.
