Supriya Sule

Supriya Sule, a senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader, was recently honoured with Mumbai Women of the Decade Award by All Ladies League for her outstanding contribution to social service and women empowerment. She has filed her nomination from the Baramati Lok Sabha constituency in Maharashtra -- which was previously represented by her father, NCP chief Sharad Pawar.   1. Supriya Sule was elected to the Rajya Sabha in September 2006 from Maharashtra and is a trustee of the Nehru Centre in Bombay.
  2. Supriya Sule has declared her total assets while filing nominations worth Rs 140.88 crore.
  3. She led the state-level campaign against female foeticide. The campaign included padayatras, college events and competitions.
  4. Supriya Sule formed a wing named Rashtravadi Yuvati Congress in 2012 to give platform to young girls in politics.
  5. She was slapped with charges of money laundering in IPL. Supriya and Sharad Pawar owned 16.22 per cent of a firm that had bid for the Pune franchise of IPL as reported.
  6. She denied all the allegations of financial links between her family and IPL.
  7. Supriya Sule was the parliamentarian who asked the most number of questions in the 16th Lok Sabha, according to a report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR).
