Maruti Suzuki is all set to unveil the facelifted Baleno in India on September 5. This time, they’re shaking things up—expect some real upgrades inside and under the hood. The headline is the CNG-AMT combo. For the first time, Maruti Suzuki is pairing a factory-fitted CNG kit with an automatic (AMT) gearbox. That’s a first for the brand. If you prefer shifting gears yourself, the CNG variant will stick around with the five-speed manual, too.
Swift's Z-series engine to power Baleno
Now, under that hood, the Baleno’s moving over to the Swift’s Z-Series three-cylinder petrol engine. Maruti is bringing this engine to both petrol and CNG versions. That CNG-AMT setup will roll out on the Delta and Zeta trims, following Maruti’s typical approach—don’t expect it at the very top. But for people who want more from their Baleno, there’s a new petrol-only variant coming in above the Alpha trim. It gives buyers even more to choose from if they want all the bells and whistles.
ADAS could be a major first
Here’s another big upgrade: the new features like ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) might make it debut here, which could put the Baleno at the front of the segment for safety tech. Ventilated front seats are also coming—a welcome relief in India’s heat. Expect a fresh look inside, too, with new dual-tone interiors and updated upholstery. The main dashboard will not change much.
Subtle exterior changes expected
Do not look for a big exterior overhaul, though. The facelift sticks to subtle tweaks—maybe a new grille, reworked bumpers, updated wheels, and a few fresh colour options. The headlights and taillights should stay as they are, and the car keeps its size. This is in line with what Maruti’s done with its other recent updates.
Baleno Facelift: Price and rivals
As for price, Maruti’s likely to nudge it just a bit higher than the current model. The refreshed Baleno keeps its eye on the same rivals: the Tata Altroz and Hyundai i20- still playing in the premium hatchback segment.
With the new CNG-AMT, added safety tech, and more comfort features, this updated Baleno gives buyers greater flexibility and more convenience—right in line with what car buyers want today.
