The internationally recognised government in Yemen has claimed that the attackers belonged to the Houthis with the support of Iran. When the US warship approached the attackers, they tried to flee via a small boat but were ultimately caught, according to the Central Command.
According to a report by The Times of Israel, the footage shows a helicopter landing on the vehicle carrier named the "Galaxy Leader", with several gunmen getting off and taking control of the ship.
The British-owned ship was linked to Israel and the Houthis promised to target ships in international waters that were linked to or owned by the country. Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu later denounced the incident and said that no Israelis were on board.
Denouncing the incident, the Israeli PM office said it strongly condemned the Iranian attack against an international vessel and added the ship is owned by a British company and is operated by a Japanese firm.
The Houthis attacked Israel with ballistic missiles and drones as per "demands of Yemeni people" for the latter's actions in Gaza. This was the third Houthi attack against Israel since the October 7 and threatens to expand the current conflict in the Middle East.
