Filmmaker Shekha Kapur on Friday said cinema has the power to make people curious about different aspects of life, including science. Citing the example of Steven Spielberg''s "Jurassic Park" movies, Kapur said films have the ability to generate curiosity about any scientific subject.
Kapur, the man behind cinematic gems like Masoom, Mr. India and Bandit Queen, got Hollywood fame with his successful film Elizabeth, starring Cate Blanchett. The films won Kapur international acclaim including the prestigious BAFTA Award and Oscar nominations.
Shekhar Kapur has made his mark in Hollywood as well as Bollywood. He started out as a filmmaker with "Masoom" in 1983. Starring Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi and Jugal Hansraj, the film was a critical and commercial success. Kapur would score a blockbuster at the box office with his 1987 release "Mr India", starring Sridevi, Anil Kapoor and Amrish Puri.
