Omicron Variant Updates: New variant spreads five times faster, says Union Health Ministry
World | Dec 04, 2021, 12:00 AM ISTIn the wake of the new coronavirus variant Omicron, Union Health Ministry said that passengers arriving from 'at risk' countries need to undergo RT-PCR test on arrival and if found positive for COVID-19, they will be treated under clinical management protocol. On Thursday, India reported its first 2 cases of Omicron variant after two people tested positive for the new variant in Karnataka. The new COVID-19 variant B.1.1.529 was first detected in South Africa. WHO classified its as a 'variant of concern' and named it as 'Omicron.'
