Close to 6,000 pilgrims on Tuesday left Jammu for the Amarnath caves amid tight security after over 8,000 devotees offered puja in the cave shrine on the first day of the annual pilgrimage.
Keeping in view the security scenario and the threat over the yatra, various agencies and forces have stepped up arrangements to ward off any threat by the terrorists.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police is seeking additional 225 companies of paramilitary forces for deployment along the pilgrimage route. These forces will join the existing forces operating in Jammu and Kashmir.
