Samsung Galaxy Fold with 7.3-inch Infinity Flex display, 4.6-inch AMOLED cover display and 12GB RAM announced

Samsung has officially, announced its new foldable smartphone called the Galaxy Fold. The phone was unveiled at the Unpacked event that was held in San Francisco. The Galaxy Fold comes with a 7.3-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 4.2:3 aspect ratio Infinity Flex Display that can fold into a 4.6-inch HD+ Super AMOLED 21:9 aspect ratio cover display. The device gets triple rear cameras and dual front cameras just like the S10+ and comes with a new UX that features App Continuity that will help you recover when you open and close the display, while the Multi-Active Window allows users to open up to three active apps simultaneously on the main display, for users to text, surf, work, watch and share easily.

It is made up of a new polymer layer that makes the display around 50% thinner compared to a usual smartphone. It gets a fingerprint sensor on the side for easy unlocking. The Galaxy Fold is flexible, tough and comes with two batteries that add up to 4,380mAh. The device supports wired and wireless fast charging.

Samsung Galaxy Fold specifications

The Samsung Galaxy Fold comes with a 7.3-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 4.2:3 aspect ratio main display, along with a 4.6-inch HD+ Super AMOLED 21:9 aspect ratio cover display and is powered by the Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 7nm processor, backed with Adreno 640 GPU and 12GB RAM with 512GB storage.

In terms of camera, the Galaxy Fold comes with a 12 Megapixel Dual Pixel rear camera with LED Flash along with a 12 Megapixel Telephoto lens with 45° FoV, f/2.4 aperture and a 16 Megapixel 123° Ultra Wide sensor with an f/2.2 aperture with 0.5X/2X optical zoom, along with up to 10X digital zoom. There is a 10 Megapixel Dual Pixel front-facing camera with 80° wide-angle lens, and a secondary 8 Megapixel depth sensor with f/2.2 aperture, 90° FoV. It also gets a 10 Megapixel cover camera with f/2.2 aperture.

Other features of the Galaxy Fold include a side-mounted Fingerprint sensor along with a stereo speakers tuned by AKG, Dolby Atmos. It houses a 4,380mAh battery with fast Charging both on wired and wireless charging and gets other connectivity options like 5G Sub6 / mmWave (28G, 39G), 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ax (2.4/5GHz), Bluetooth 5, VHT80 4×4 MIMO, USB 3.1, GPS with GLONASS, NFC and MST.

Samsung Galaxy Fold price

The Samsung Galaxy Fold is priced at US$ 1,980 (Rs. 1,40,760 approx.) for the 5G version and there will be a 4G version of it as well. It will come in colour options of Space Silver, Cosmos Black, Martian Green and Astro Blue colours.
