Sydney, Feb 4: Shane Watson is back in Australia's squad as an opening batsman for the remaining one-day matches against the West Indies, with selectors electing not to send him in an advance party departing for the tour of India.
Cricket Australia said on Monday that vice-captain Watson will make his international return in the third one-dayer on Wednesday in Canberra, replacing Usman Khawaja. Australia has won the first two matches of the five-match series.
Cricket Australia also announced that Australia's players will depart for their India tour in three groups ahead of the first of two tour matches starting on February 12 in Chennai in order to acclimatise to the Indian conditions.
