Visakhapatnam, Dec 2: West Indies' Ravi Rampaul on Friday created a new world record for the highest score by a No. 10 batsman in history of ODIs when he struck a magnificent unbeaten 86 against India in the second ODI.

Rampaul, coming at the fall of Andre Russell's wicket when the West Indies were tottering at 149 for 8, surpassed the earlier record held by Pakistan's Mohammed Aamer.

Aamer made 73 not out against New Zealand at Abu Dhabi in 2009.

Pacer Rampaul, during his 66-ball stay at the crease, hit six fours and an equal number of sixes to lift the West Indies to 269 for nine in 50 overs, leaving India stunned and their bowlers bereft of ideas.

The 27-year-old Trinidadian also stitched together an unbeaten 99-run partnership in 14 overs for the last wicket with Kemar Roach (24), the third highest 10th wicket stand in the history of the game.

The other two notable 10th wicket partnerships were between West Indian greats Vivian Richards and Michael Holding (106 runs against England at Manchester in 1984) and Pakistan's Aamer and Saeed Ajmal (103 runs against New Zealand at Abu Dhabi in 2009).

If that's not enough, Rampaul created another record of most sixes by a number 10 batsman, clearing the ropes six times.
