Colombo: Injured speedster S Sreesanth is likely to return home with a knee injury that has virtually ruled him out of India's Test series against Sri Lanka starting on July 18 at Galle.

Sreesanth was ruled out after an MRI scan on Monday revealed he has a ligament tear.

The BCCI nor the team management have made an official announcement yet about Sreesanth's injury.

Vidarbha pacer Umesh Yadav, who along with Jaydev Unadkat, is here as a net bowler is likely to be asked to stay back, team sources said.

Sreesanth's return would be a bad news for India as the visitors already have a depleted pace attack in absence of spearhead Zaheer Khan who is nursing a shoulder injury.

With Sreesanth too being ruled out, Ishant Sharma would have to lead the pace attack, which also includes Zaheer's replacement Abhimanyu Mithun.

India are scheduled to play a three-day warm-up match against Sri Lanka Board President's XI here from Tuesday. PTI
