The International Cricket Council says there is "unanimous support" among member countries for changes to the way cricket is run but toned down radical proposals that appeared to cede complete control to the powerful India, England and Australia boards.

The ICC said Tuesday its executive board, which includes the 10 test-playing nations, ICC leadership and representatives of smaller cricket countries, backed "a set of principles relating to the future structure, governance and financial models of the ICC."

However, the proposed changes in the ICC statement were clearly watered down from those put forward by the game's so-called "big three."

The principles are yet to be formally adopted but ICC President Alan Isaac said "extensive work will now be undertaken in advance of a follow-up board meeting next month."
