Islamabad: Pakistan today said that the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan should meet to address the ongoing border tension and firing incidents, local media reported.

Pakistan's Adviser on National Security and Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz expressed concerns over what he called “unprovoked” firing by Border Security Force (BSF).

He said it was impacting the bilateral ties and peace in the region.

“DGMOs of both countries should meet immediately and discuss ways and means to stop the current spate of firing along the working boundary and Pakistan is also sending a proposal to India for the meeting,” Aziz told the Dawn.

Aziz recalled that the last meeting of DGMOs between the two countries helped in normalising the situation along the Line of Control (LoC) and the working boundary and would be helpful again.

He also rejected Indian allegations that Pakistan was sending militants through a tunnel operating from its side of borer. He said if India had any evidence, it should share it with Pakistan instead of indulging in a blame game.

The reaction came after Pakistani defence sources claimed that two civilians were killed today due to unprovoked firing by BSF in Sailkot area of Pakistan.
