Imphal, April 26: Two labourers have died either due to inhalation of poisonous gas or asphyxiation in Imphal West district of Manipur, official sources said today.
The labourers identified as Elangbam Ranjit (45) and Elangbam Indra (35) had climbed down a pit of the Imphal sewerage project to clean it at Kekrupat area here yesterday afternoon.
The two collapsed inside the pit due to either inhalation of poisonous gas or asphyxiation, the sources said.
The bodies have been taken to nearby Regional Institute of Medical Science and Hospital for post mortem.
