Sitapur (UP), Jul 14: Three members of a family were locked inside their house for two days after it was allegedly sealed by revenue department officers over non-payment of dues, officials said here today.

Satya Prakash Singh, who runs a brick kiln in Sidhauli, had tax dues of Rs 78,000, against which a notice was issued to him in December last year, they said.

On Thursday, tehsildar Sushil Kumar along with another official Lal Gupta sealed Singh's house in Vijaylaxmi Nagar area, locking his wife, son and daughter inside, they said.  Singh alleged that the revenue staff acted on the behest of a former BSP MLA.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate Ashok Singh went to Singh's house today and unlocked the house.

While an inquiry has been ordered into the incident, Lal has been suspended, the officials said.
