New Delhi: Displeased with the desilting and removal of debris done by the MCD, Delhi Lt Governor Najeeb Jung has called a meeting of concerned officials tomorrow at 4 pm to review the situation.
“Desilting work and removal of malba (debris) has to be top priority. We cannot accept any laxity on this front,” Jung said while directing the officials to back their claim with adequate evidence at a review meeting today.
It was observed in the meeting that the work of de-silting and removal of debris was not as per claims made.
Taking strong exception, Jung called a meeting of all DCs along with PWD-Secretary, MCD Commissioners, officials of Irrigation and Flood Control, DDA and Jal Board tomorrow to review the situation before the onset of monsoon.
The PWD had yesterday said it had completed the desilting of drains on roads across the city.
During the meeting, Jung also reviewed the field visits made by the DCs, including to hospitals, dispensaries, schools, night-shelters, fair price shops, besides monitoring of water and power supply and general sanitation in their concerned districts.
Jung was also apprised of the power outages in various parts of the national capital in the wake of the recent storm in the city of Delhi.
He asked the DCs to crosscheck the schedule of power outages in their districts with the ones displayed by the discoms on their website.
He directed the DCs to inform about power outages to the RWAs so that people can plan accordingly.
The DCs have also been asked to monitor water supply in their districts.
