New Delhi: Delhi and Rajasthan police are on alert after Security agencies warned them of possible strike by the Islamic State during the festival season.

A report in Times of India said that Delhi Police's intelligence unit had forwarded the alert to the special cell. The intercepts suggest that an attack could be carried out by a "lone wolf", or a single member of the outfit.

A similar input has also been sent to the Rajasthan Police.

In another report, the Intelligence Bureau has issued an alert that twelve to thirteen armed terrorists have gained entry into Gujarat through the Arabian Sea between Friday night and Saturday morning.

The alert was sent to airports across the country and warned that that these are "trained terrorists" and "they may target vital installations and/or crowded areas," according to a report.

On Tuesday, Mumbai domestic and international airports and the iconic Taj Hotel received a terror threat, sending the security agencies on frenzy.

The airport manager on duty late Monday night received a call that the airport and the Taj Hotel outside the airport may be attacked.

Described as a "specific threat", the agencies concerned beefed up security at these locations.

These incident comes on the eve of the quantum of sentencing for the 12 convicted for the 7/11 Mumbai serial train blasts, scheduled to be pronounced on Wednesday.

Taj Hotel, near Gateway of India in South Mumbai was one of the prime targets during the 26/11 terror attacks in 2008.
