Ahmedabad, Jan 3: Gujarat Congress has launched the ‘Sardar Sandesh Yatra' from Bardoli town of south Gujarat as a part of the campaign for the state elections, scheduled in December 2012.

The ‘Sardar Sandesh Yatra' was flagged on Monday in the presence of the state Congress president Arjun Modhwadia, Leader of Opposition Shaktisinh Gohil and former Union Minister and 2012 Campaign Committee chief Shankarsinh Vaghela.

The Congress had last week announced to take out Sardar Sandesh Yatras from six different places in the state, which would culminate at Anand on January 13.  Today's yatra was led by Union Minister of State for Roads and Transport Tushar Chaudhury.

“Five-star Sadbhavana fasts by Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi will not yield results. If you want results, you should stop the tears from the eyes of poor people, give water and electricity to farmers and jobs to unemployed,” Modhwadia said referring to Modi's Sadbhavana fasts.

Modhwadia also accused the Modi government of being corrupt.

Vaghela called upon Modi and BJP to get ready for the 2012 elections and said that wind of changes would blow in Gujarat this time.

“Under this state government, basic amenities like water, education, medical facilites have gone out of reach of poor people of the state,” Vaghela alleged.

Other yatras will be flagged off from Somnath, Porbandar, Mansa, including two from the city itself from tomorrow.

Congress leaders comprising Modhwadia, Vaghela, Gohil, former state president Siddarth Patel, former deputy-chief minister Narhari Amin and Union Minster Tushar Chaudhury will lead different yatras.
