Army relief column sent to Doon Exp mishap site

New Delhi, May 31: An Army relief column  has been sent from Allahabad to  the accident site at Mehrawan near Jaunpur, where several coaches of Doon Express were derailed this afternoon.  The army column includes

New Delhi, May 31: An Army relief column  has been sent from Allahabad to  the accident site at Mehrawan near Jaunpur, where several coaches of Doon Express were derailed this afternoon.



 
The army column includes a  rescue team and two emergency medical teams equipped with  gas cutting equipment and generators.  
 
Meanwhile, three trains 14213 Varanasi-Gonda inter-city express, 54109 Mughalsarai-Faizabad passenger, 54372 Faizabad-Prayag passenger  have been cancelled following the derailment.
 
Several trains have been diverted. These include : Doon Express, ganga Sutlej Exp, Jammu Tavi Exp, Bareilly-Varanasi Exp, Marudhar Exp, Mathura-Patna Exp, Farrakka Exp, Lokmanya Tilak Exp, Sabarmati Express
 
There was chaos at the Dehradun railway station as relatives of passengers aboard Doon Express flocked to the inquiry counter to know about the victims.

There was no official to give any information to the relatives for more than three hours after the mishap took place at 1:14 pm.
