Allahabad: The Bakshi embankment was breached today and flood water from the swirling Ganga entered the city submerging a sewage treatment plant and many houses.
Army engineers were called in to plug the breach.
The Ganga in Allahabad is flowing one metre above danger level.
Rescue and relief work is in progress.
