The Indian Air Force (IAF) has taken to social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) to debunk false claims circulating on social media. These misleading claims suggested that a significant number of Sikh pilots and personnel in the Indian Air Force were refusing to perform their duties due to alleged continuous derogatory treatment from their Hindu seniors.

In an official statement, the Indian Air Force clarified the situation by stating, "The information is not true and has been posted to spread rumors. #IndianAirForce." Along with this statement, the official Indian Air Force X account also shared a picture of the claim that alleged Sikh officers were declining their duties due to insulting behavior from their Hindu seniors.

This clarification from the Indian Air Force comes in response to viral social media posts that propagated the false narrative that Sikh officers were boycotting their duties because they were being disrespected and insulted by their Hindu superiors.

One social media user claimed to have received information from within the Indian Air Force, alleging that a majority of Sikh pilots and personnel were refusing their duties due to routine insults from their Hindu seniors. This claim gained traction as many social media users shared and reposted it, raising doubts about the loyalty of Sikh officers serving in the Indian Air Force.

False narratives to create conflicts

It is worth noting that the Indian Air Force and other branches of the Indian military have often been targeted by individuals and organisations with vested interests. Notably, neighboring countries like China and Pakistan, which maintain hostile relations with India, have been known to propagate false narratives to create divisions and conflicts within the Indian military.

The Indian Air Force's prompt response aims to dispel these baseless claims and maintain unity and integrity within its ranks, emphasising the importance of accurate information in a digital age where misinformation can spread rapidly.
