Vishesh Films' Aashiqui 2, starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor was a blockbuster because of its beautiful love story and soulful music. The two newbies shot to fame overnight with the second instalment of Aashiqui franchise. Ever since there have been reports about Aashiqui 3.
Earlier, reports said that Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra will be the lead pair in the third instalment, however, the latest development suggests something else. As per a report in BollywoodLife.com, it is not Sidharth but Varun Dhawan who will romance Alia in the film. Yes, you read that right! Varun has reportedly been signed on for the franchise. A source close to the production house told the entertainment portal, ''There is a huge fanbase for Alia and Varun. Their fans even call them Varia or Valia. All their films have been hit. It's only obvious for Vishesh Films to confirm this hit pairing for the third film in the series. Music will again play a key role in the film.''
Earlier in an interview with a leading web portal, Mohit Suri said, ''It’s a loved franchise but it should come back for the right reason, which is the script. I would’ve made ‘Aashiqui 2’ even if it would’ve been called ‘RJ ki ek love story’. I wanted to make the film badly and tell the story. You shouldn’t make a film because you want to capitalise on a title. You can get the film to the audience but you can’t make them like it. I can lose everything I built with ‘Aashiqui 2’ by making a bad Aashiqui 3.”
Varun and Alia have a huge fan base and their crackling chemistry is loved by audience. They have earlier worked together in Student of The Year, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya and Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya. These reports have already raised our expectations. Now, we have to wait a bit for them to be proved true.
On the professional front, Varun is busy promoting October and is shooting for Sui Dhaaga. On the other hand, Alia is busy with Gully Boy and Brahmastra. She will be next seen in Meghna Gulzar's Raazi.
