Indian-origin actor-comedian Aziz Ansari who recently won his first Golden Globes Award, was nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in Master of None at 2018 Screen Actors Guild Awards. But instead, he chose to miss the ceremony amid the charges of sexual misconduct on him.

Celebrities as well as the audience didn’t even applaud for Aziz Ansari when the nominations were being announced on Sunday, as per People’s report. The actor has been accused of sexual misconduct by a woman with whom he went on a date last year.

Here’s how Twitter reacted.

The winner of the award, William H. Macy, however, mentioned the actor's name in his acceptance speech in paying tribute to the other nominees including Anthony Anderson ("Black-ish"), Larry David ("Curb Your Enthusiasm"), Sean Hayes ("Will & Grace") and Marc Maron ("GLOW").

Two weeks ago, Aziz Ansari and James Franco won Golden Globes Awards while wearing the Time’s Up pin. It was before they were accused of sexual misconduct.

Earlier this month, an anonymous photographer accused the actor-comedian of aggressive sexual coercion in an article published on Babe.net. He responded to the allegations saying that he believed the interaction to be completely consensual and he even responded to her privately.
