Celebrity jewellery designer, Nirav Modi, landed himself in trouble after Punjab National Bank accused him of $1.8 billion fraud. The bank in a regulatory filing to the stock said that it had detected “fraudulent and unauthorised” transactions amounting to Rs. 11,360 crore at a branch in Mumbai. Since morning, many reports suggested that Quantico star Priyanka Chopra, who was earlier the global brand ambassador of Nirav Modi’s brand, was suing the jeweller and the label.
Priyanka Chopra is seeking legal opinion to terminate her contract now that the jeweller has been accused of committing a major banking fraud, her spokesperson said on Thursday. Amid revelations that Nirav Modi was the prime accused in a Rs 11,515 crore fraud involving the Punjab National Bank, there was speculation that Priyanka was suing the brand for non-payment of dues.
"There are speculative reports that Priyanka Chopra has sued Nirav Modi. This is not true. However, she is currently seeking legal opinion with respect to terminating her contract with the brand in light of allegations of financial fraud against Nirav Modi," the spokesperson said in a statement.
"I am as shocked as you are. I don't want to say much because I am not the person who is officially supposed to be talking to you," Priyanka’s mother Madhu Chopra was quoted as saying to Times Now.
On the work front, Priyanka Chopra is currently seen playing a CIA agent in American TV series Quantico. She is busy promoting her second Hollywood film A Kid Like Jake and also has Isn't It Romantic in the pipeline
