A lot has been written and reported about the third instalment of Munna Bhai series. It has been more than a decade when the last film of the hit franchise was released. After the blockbuster success of Munna Bhai M.B.B.S (2003) and Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006), news of Munna Bhai 3 has been doing the rounds for quite a long time. But finally, now it seems that the makers have started working on the plan.
Recently it was said that the third instalment has been put on the back burner after the sexual harassment allegations against director Rajkumar Hirani. Though the filmmaker has denied the allegations calling it false and malicious, he faced its repercussions. His name was dropped from the posters of recently released film Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga. The movie starring Sonam Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Anil Kapoor and Juhi Chawla was produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
Now, when Indian Express asked Chopra about the third instalment of Munna Bhai, the filmmaker expressed his desire to make it happen this year. “I haven’t yet made my next Munna Bhai because I didn’t get a proper script. I hope I make it this year,'' he said. However, it is uncertain about Hirani donning the director's cap.
Recently, when Munna Bhai clocked in 15 years, Sanjay Dutt took to Instagram to pen an emotional note. He wrote, ''#15YearsOfMunnaBhai brings back so many memories! Thank you everyone, for loving the film so much. Big jadoo ki jhappi to you all!"
Talking to Pinkvilla, Arshad Warsi, who plays the role of Circuit in the hit series had said that Mr. Hirani is working on the script as he is planning to begin shooting by the end of 2019. ''The truth is that the last time I had a chat with Raju (Rajkumar Hirani), he mentioned that the script is being worked on. It's doing well and moving fast and smooth. Hopefully, by the end of 2019, he's planning to start shooting. These are all desires and wishes and they could not be true, or they could happen, could not happen. But that's how it is,'' he told the entertainment portal.
