One of the most versatile actress of Bollywood, Tabu has turned a year older today. The actress, who wowed us with her comic timing in Golmaal Returns, is celebrating her 46th birthday today.  Born on November 4, 1971, Tabu is one of the most recognized actress in the Hindi film industry today. On this special occasion, let’s have a look at some of her popular movies that we love her for. 

Astitva

This 2000 film saw yet another marvelous and off-beat performance of Tabu, where she plays the role of an unhappy wife who has an affair with her music teacher. The role fetched Tabu the Filmfare Best Actress Critics award for her portrayal of a confident housewife in search of her identity.

Chandi Bar 

Tabu did not shy away from playing a bar dancer on screen in the 2001 flick Chandi Bar. and her role was much appreciated.  Tabu won the National Award for Best Award for Chandni Bar.

Maqbool

Maqbool was Tabu’s maiden attempt with director Vishal Bhardwaj, at a Shakespearean classic, Macbeth. As she portrayed the role of Lady Macbeth with panache, she not only seduced a gang lord, but also the film industry, with her skills. In the race with seasoned actors such as Irrfan Khan, Pankaj Kapoor and Naseeruddin Shah, she outran them all.

Drishyam

In this 2015 Ajay Devgn starrer movie, Tabu played the role of a fierce police woman who goes all the way to find out about her son’s whereabouts.

Haider

Haider is one of  Tabu’s applauded attempt at another adaptation of a Shakespearean classic, Hamlet, with director Vishal Bhardwaj. As she played the role of a mother torn between her son and her lover, Tabu’s character had much more than met the eye.
