Emraan Hashmi is all set to bounce back on the big screen with his upcoming film ‘Why Cheat India’ and fans couldn’t have been happier about it. The film is Emraan’s first production venture and is based on the education system of the country. Interestingly, the film was supposed to be called Cheat India but as the release date of the film nears, many changes are said to be made including the title of the film. One week before the release of the film, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBSE) expressed concern over its title and the makers have now changed it to ‘Why Cheat India’.
Well, it is still okay that the film is called ‘Why Cheat India’ but Emraan Hashmi has even changed in his own name on the social media and has written ‘Why Emraan Hashmi’. Hilarious isn’t it? Looks like Emraan Hashmi is not really happy with the new name of the film as while sharing the changed poster he wrote ‘Don’t ask why’. Check out his post as well as his name here-
On Thursday morning, a statement was issued on behalf of the film's producers, T-Series Films, Ellipsis Entertainment and Emraan Hashmi Films which read, "The CBFC had concerns about the title 'Cheat India'. We had an extensive conversation with the Examining Committee and Revising Committee regarding the proposed change as the film has been in public domain for a year, and more importantly, because the theatrical teaser, trailer and television promos had already been certified with the original title.”
Talking bout the film and the powerful character Emraan Hashmi has in the film, the actor is very excited for his fans to watch it. He said in an interview earlier, “The script and title of Cheat India are supremely powerful. This is among the most engaging and riveting stories I’ve read in a while and I am thrilled to be essaying what I believe will be a landmark role in my filmography. I am also looking forward to working with some formidable partners - Soumik, an amazing storyteller.”
The film will hit the theatres on January 18.
