New Delhi: Superstar Akshay Kumar has shared the teaser of his upcoming film "Airlift" along with his first look on the micro blogging site twitter. The movie is based on the biggest evacuation of Indians based in Kuwait during the Iraq-Kuwait war (1990-91).
"The wait is over... Presenting the first look of @AirliftFilm," he tweeted.
Directed by Raja Krishna Menon, the movie also stars "The Lunchbox" actress Nimrat Kaur.
After his first look, Akshay went on to release the first teaser of the movie.
Yesterday, the star also shared the first poster of the movie. The black-and-white poster shows an aircraft flying above a runway, laden with smoke and fume.
"Mark the date guys... @AirliftFilm releases on 22nd January, 2016. #AirliftTeaserOnWednesday," Akshay captioned the poster.
The 48-year-old actor further tweeted, "How many people know about the Kuwait evacuation? I'm proud to be part of a film that brings this true story alive."
He also shared another black-and-white image, showing him sporting a serious look.
"India airlifted over 1,70,000 people from Kuwait in the largest human evacuation in history," he captioned the look.
Co-producer Nikkhil Advani shared the poster on Twitter and captioend it, "The sad thing is we really don't need to #RewindTo1990. The innocent are still the collateral damage in any war."
The film releases on January 22, 2016.
