Actor Ajith’s latest release Vivegam is doing wonders at the box office. The movie received good response from the audiences and minted Rs 1.21cr at Chennai box office breaking the record of actor Rajinikanth starrer Kabali. The latter earned Rs 1.12 crore on its first day in Chennai. The numbers were shared by trade analyst Ramesh Bala, who called the film a mass entertainer. The movie is also performing well in Hyderabad.
Ramesh took to micro-blogging site Twitter and wrote, “#Vivegam storms #Chennai City Box office.. A New All-time BO record - Day 1 Gross - ₹ 1.21 Cr.. #Thala proves again he is #TheKingOfOpening.”

It goes without saying that with this speed, Ajith starrer is all set to script the history. Ever since the trailer of the film was released, Thala’s fans were eagerly waiting for the movie to hit the screens. Thus, trade analysts already predicted that the movie will create a new record. It seems that they were right as despite receiving mixed reviews, Vivegam is earning good.
The collections are expected to grow in coming days. The movie has some high-octane action sequences with Ajith playing the role of an international spy. The film also marks the Tamil debut of actor Vivek Oberoi, who is seen playing antagonist. Vivegam also features actress Kajal Aggarwal in a pivotal role.
