Shahid Kapoor's upcoming film Padmavati which is a period drama is set to hit the screens and even before its release, the actor has started preparations for his next- Batti Gul Meter Chalu. Directed by Toilet: Ek Prem Katha-fame Shree Narayan Singh, it is a commercial film with a socially relevant subject. Now, the makers have announced that Shahid-starrer movie will release next year on August 31.
The flick which revolves around the issue of high electricity bill will be produced jointly by KriArj Entertainment and T-Series. KriArj Entertainment took to Twitter to unveil the release date. ''With TSeries we celebrate Janamasthami with Batti Gul Meter Chalu… this Shahid Kapoor starrer, directed by Shree Narayan Singh to release on 31st Aug 2018,'' the production house tweeted.
Batti Gul Meter Chalu which is a social drama will consolidate Shree Narayan's position in Bollywood. The movie is about long hours of power cuts and ironical high electricity bills. In an interview to PTI, the director said that he is impressed with Shahid as his star presence is undeniable. Makers have already released the first look of the movie and the film is expected to go on floors soon.
On a related note, Shahid is playing the role of Maharawal Ratan Singh in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati. The movie is slated to release on December 1.
