Sanju smashes 8 Box Office records, including Baahubali 2’s haul record

Sanju traces the life and struggles of Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt. While Ranbir plays the titular role of Sanjay, Paresh Rawal essays the role of Sunil Dutt and Manisha Koirala plays Sanjay’s mom Nargis.

Sanju smashes 8 Box Office records, including Baahubali 2’s haul record 

The Sanjay Dutt biopic titled Sanju is reigning at national and as well as international box offices. The film has collected Rs 145.41 crore in four days, a statement from the film’s producers claimed Tuesday morning. The biopic is also doing wonders at the Australian box-office beating superhit movies like Dangal, Baahubali 2 and Sultan. The Ranbir Kapoor starrer Bollywood film is on a record-breaking spree.  In just four days of its release, Sanju has already smashed eight box-office reports.

Ranbir Kapoor’s Sanju is the highest opener of 2018

The Ranbir Kapoor-starrer had earned Rs 34.75 crore on its opening day, making it the biggest opener of the year, beating Salman Khan’s Race 3 (Rs 29.70 crore) and Avengers: Infinity War (Rs 31.30 crore).

The Sanjay Dutt biopic Sanju beat Baahubali’s record

With the Sunday earnings of Rs 46.71 crore, Sanju also made it to the highest single day collection for any Bollywood film ever. Earlier, Baahubali 2 The Conclusion had collected Rs 46.50 cr on the third day of its release and held the record.

Sanju creates ripples in Australian box-office 

The Ranbir Kapoor starrer is creating ripples in Australia as well.  The Rajkumar Hirani directorial venture has beaten other blockbusters like Dangal, Dhoom 3, PK, Sultan, Tiger Zinda Hai and even Baahubali 2. Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote about Sanju's phenomenal business at Australia box office on social media. "#Sanju is creating ripples in AUSTRALIA... Collects A$ 931,947... Crosses *opening weekend biz* of #Dhoom3 [A$ 695,782], #PK [A$ 680,524], #Sultan [A$ 639,513], #Dangal [A$ 735,755], #TigerZindaHai [A$ 577,781] and ALSO #Baahubali2 [Hindi; A$ 839,323]. @comScore”, he wrote.

Sanju is the highest opening weekend grosser of 2018

Sanju minted Rs 120.06 crore on its first weekend and shattered the record of Race 3 (Rs 106.47 crore) and Padmaavat Rs (Rs 114 crore). Interestingly, the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer had enjoyed an opening weekend of five days as it was released on a Wednesday.

Sanju emerged as the second highest weekend grosser of all time

If we consider collections of the first three days, Sanju has shattered the records of many Bollywood biggies, including Sultan, Tiger Zinda Hai, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Dangal. It has emerged as the second highest opening weekend of all time, after only Baahubali 2.

Highest weekend opener for Ranbir Kapoor

Even Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, which is one of the best performing films for Ranbir, collected Rs 61.87 crore over the first weekend, as per Boxofficeindia. Besharam and PK, too, lag behind Sanju with Rs 32.29 crore and Rs 93.82 crore respectively as there first day earnings.

Sanju is Ranbir Kapoor’s highest opener ever

Sanju is also the biggest opener of Ranbir’s career. Besharam (2013) made an opening collection of Rs 21.56 crore and was his best number-spinner till date.

Highest opener for Rajkumar Hirani

Anushka Sharma-Aamir Khan-starrer PK made an opening collection of Rs 25.45 crore and was his biggest opener till date. With a whopping Rs 34.75 crore earning on day one, Sanju also became Hirani’s top opener.

Sanju hit the cinemas on June 29.
