Raazi Box Office Collection Day 1: Alia Bhatt-starrer mints Rs 7.5 crore on its opening

Alia Bhatt’s 10th film Raazi, which is a spy-thriller helmed by ace filmmaker Meghna Gulzar, manages to perform fairly at the box office. On its opening day, the film minted Rs 7.5 crore, marking a solid start. Revealing the box office numbers, film trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote in his tweet, “Power of SOLID CONTENT... #Raazi starts Day 1 with a BIG BANG... The EXCEPTIONAL word of mouth should result in a FANTASTIC opening weekend... Fri ₹ 7.53 cr. India biz.”

Alia Bhatt’s Raazi is getting rave reviews from both audience and critics. Many Bollywood buffs are touting this spy thriller to be Alia’s best performance till date. In the film, the actress essayed the role of a 20-year-old Kashmiri spy who was married off to a Pakistani officer for espionage. Raazi is a true story based on Harinder Sikka’s recently released novel Calling Sehmat. It is filmed with a backdrop of 1971 Indo-Pak War fought between the two neighbouring countries.

Apart from Raazi, Alia Bhatt has worked in Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy for which she has wrapped up shooting last month. It also stars Ranveer Singh in pivotal role. The actress will be seen in Brahmastra opposite Ranbir Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan. Both the films are expected to release in 2019.

Talking about Alia Bhatt's performance in Raazi, India TV's film critic writes, "Alia Bhatt has been raising the bar for herself as well for her contemporaries one film at a time. When she aced the ‘Veera’ in Imtiaz Ali’s masterpiece Highway, we touted it as her best performance ever. Now, the actress has surpassed her own benchmark with Raazi. Her face is so expressive like a canvas, that every emotion right from love, anger, hatred and fear are portrayed in the most realistic manner. It’s the USP of the actress that she can nail any role, however taxing it might be. After Raazi, it’s going to be really difficult for Alia Bhatt to get past her own set levels. That’s an achievement in itself."
