PadMan- this social-drama laced with comedy is just 8 days away from release and we can’t keep calm. To keep the momentum going, the makers have released a new song Sayaani and it’s as good as the trailer.

Akshay Kumar today took to Twitter and shared the song with a caption that read, "Ladki #Sayaani ho gayi, hum kab honge?"

At the beginning of this new song from PadMan, Sonam Kapoor's character is seen speaking to herself as to why Akshay Kumar's character is obsessed with 'chums'. The song that follows this dialogue, interspersed with Akshay Kumar's speech, tries to make sense of why his character really delved into making low-cost sanitary pads for the women in his village.

It’s a happy go lucky song that celebrates a girl’s first period. They show the process where she is bathed in haldi and dressed up in beautiful clothes and showered with blessings and love. It’s the celebration of a girl entering ‘womanhood’. Its catchy beats and peppy vibe will have you dancing too.

While the song is playing out, we also hear of some dialogue exchanges. The boys happen to call chums ‘a test match’. Akshay Kumar then brings up a pertinent point – When men play matches, they have two pads protecting their knees, when women start with their menstrual cycle, they don’t have any pads! In fact, their cycle is far worse than playing a match. This mad mad man is only thinking pads!

Watch the song here:

Sung by Yashita Sharma, Jonita Gandhi, Yashika Sikka & Rani Kaur, the lovely music is given by Amit Trivedi, while Kausar Munir has penned the lyrics.

The movie is directed by R Balki and produced by Twinkle Khanna under her banner – Mrs Funny Bones Movies. The film also stars Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte. The film is all set to hit theatres next week on Feb 9th.
