Ekta Kapoor’s forthcoming movie with Rockstar fame Imtiaz Ali was earlier slated to release on August 24. However, due to some reasons, the release has been pushed further to September 7 this year. The trailer of the epic love saga is scheduled to be out on Wednesday. Just a day before the trailer release, the makers dropped a series of posters, promoting the film. The news of its delayed release has been broken by trade analyst Taran Adarsh on his Twitter.
He wrote, “New release date... #LailaMajnu, which was slated for release on 24 Aug 2018, will now release on 7 Sept 2018... Imtiaz Ali and Ekta Kapoor have also decided to launch the trailer later [was supposed to launch tomorrow]... Directed by Sajid Ali..."

In a statement, Imtiaz Ali explained why they decided to further delay the release of Laila Majnu. He said, “It takes the whole village to raise a child! (African proverb). And it takes a big team to raise a film and bring it to the world. And while I’m excited to show you the trailer of Laila Majnu ASAP, the wait will be a slightly more. My friends in the distribution team urged me to look at releasing the film on the 7th of sept and I see their point that it would be better for Laila Majnu to be released on that date. I’ve been told the trailer comes out about 4-5 weeks before the film and not any earlier. So guys.. a little longer wait, we shall put the trailer out soon.. Thanks for the overwhelming response on the posters and videos of Laila Majnu, keep sending us your love ... love is worth the wait! Laila Majnu to release on 7th Sept.”
He also shared a fresh poster with the new release date in which lead actors Avinash Tiwary and Tripti Dimri, look happy in love as they pose holding each other, with the backdrop of a hailstorm. A classic folklore, the story is based on two lovers facing the challenges of the society of their times.
The film which is a modern take on the legendary love story is written and directed by Sajid Ali.
